Me & You

There’s a specific time in early December every year when I’m struck by this sweet, reflective melancholy and I have the urge to listen to John Coltrane’s version of My Favorite Things, Vince Guaraldi and Bill Evans. This song tries to scratch that itch for me, to capture that bittersweet longing. It came out in one piece, fully formed from that major 7th chord voicing I play in the intro. The version you’re hearing was recorded late the other night in one take. It’s rough but I like to think there’s some charm in its foibles. I tracked in stereo with two mics to try to capture what it would feel like if you were sitting across from me in my little office studio.
