Take Me To The Bridge
January 10, 2007It's been an embarrassingly long time since I've posted and there is just far too much to give a proper synopsis and talk about everything but I will hit the high points. The holiday was wonderful, I took over a week off from working and we went up to Boone and spent a lot of family time. Having extended playtime with the boys is always amazing. Dylan and I put together a 1200 piece Batman lego set -- no small feat. Ian and I played with his new Nintendo wii until we were both sore and winded -- sad I know.
Just after Thanksgiving I began a new project that I've been thinking about for a long time. Take Me To The Bridge is a podcast that I have put together and plan to do new episodes for every couple of weeks. Each episode features an interview with a songwriter where we talk about the process, share stories and generally nerd-out on music. The first one I was lucky enough to get Kristian Bush to agree to do with me and it turned out to be a lot of fun and also extremely educational for me on a lot of levels.
I'm facinated by the creative process in general and this project gives me unfettered access into the brains of some of the most creative folks in the world. I still feel inadequate as an interviewer and hearing my own voice recorded is almost as much fun as a prostate exam, but hopefully I can persevere and get used to it over time. I'm excited about some of the interviews I have coming up, in particular Glen Phillips, formerly of Toad the Wet Sproket.
