A Day at the Zoo...

August 30, 2003

I got to spend the day with Dylan at the zoo. Just me and him. He's very quiet, very shy and always watching. He loved the reptile house the most I think. The air conditioning was not working in there, so the snakes were all pretty happy and moving around a lot. I think if he could have, Dylan would have jumped right in there with them -- he doesn't seem to have any fear whatsoever.

My mind has been on the show tonight at Smith's Olde Bar. We practiced last night, and I think as an ensemble we could not be any tighter. Beyond just the execution of the music, I think we have something else going on below the surface. When we play together, we connect and create this powerful energy that is bigger than all of us. I hope that feeling can transfer to an audience. But, even if no one's there to hear us, the energy is still there and that's what I'm most happy about.

Tom and I are making plans to go out to LA in November to attend this Taxi.com convention. Basically it's a music industry meet and greet. We are hoping to get some attention from publishers and record labels. I'm a little freaked out about this whole Business aspect of music, I have spent most of my life trying to avoid it. But I think I am being liberated from my self-imposed exile in obscurity. I am finally trying to put my music out there in a way that it might have a chance to reach more people.

Well, I have to go restring guitars, and get ready for the show tonight. I hope to have some pictures to post and some good stories to tell.
